Position: Shift In-Charge / Metallurgy Supervisor Number of Positions: 1 Location: Zambia
Job Summary: The Shift In-Charge will provide overall technical and operational leadership during the assigned shift, with particular responsibility for metallurgical processes, production performance, quality, safety, and effective coordination of plant personnel and equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
Take overall responsibility for plant operations during the assigned shift.
Supervise and coordinate production, control room, maintenance, and other operational teams.
Monitor and optimize metallurgical processes to achieve production and quality targets.
Ensure raw materials and production processes meet required specifications.
Monitor furnace/plant operating conditions and respond to process deviations.
Coordinate with maintenance teams to address equipment and process issues.
Ensure compliance with operating procedures, quality standards, and safety requirements.
Analyze production data and identify opportunities for process improvement.
Maintain accurate shift production, quality, and operational reports.
Conduct effective handovers between shifts.
Investigate operational problems and implement corrective measures.
Provide leadership, coaching, and guidance to shift personnel.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree or relevant qualification in Metallurgy, Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or a closely related field.
Proven knowledge and practical experience in metallurgy/metal processing is essential.
Previous experience in a metal-processing, ferroalloy, smelting, mining, or heavy industrial environment is highly desirable.
Strong understanding of metallurgical processes, production operations, and plant safety.
Previous supervisory or shift-management experience is preferred.
Strong analytical, leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work rotating shifts and operate effectively in a demanding industrial environment.
