Job position summary:
The District Education Office Focal Person (Education Officer) is responsible for coordinating and supporting the implementation of the PlayMatters Project at the district (woreda) level. The position serves as the primary liaison between the District Education Office, schools, communities, and implementing partners (Plan International and IRC) to ensure the effective delivery of quality, inclusive, and play-based education interventions.
The Education Officer provides technical support to teachers and school leaders, coordinates training and mentoring activities, conducts regular school monitoring and supportive supervision, and ensures timely collection, verification, and reporting of project data. The role also promotes child safeguarding, inclusive education, community engagement, and collaboration with key education stakeholders to strengthen the sustainability of project outcomes
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate implementation of PlayMatters activities across target schools.
Provide technical support and coaching to teachers and school leaders.
Organize and follow up on capacity-building activities.
Monitor project implementation and conduct supportive supervision visits.
Collect, verify, and report project data and progress.
Promote child safeguarding, gender equality, and inclusive education.
Strengthen collaboration among schools, communities, and education partners.
Support effective use of project resources and document lessons learned

Duration of employment: One year with possibility of extension based on performance and availability of budget
