Employment Information

To perform maintenance, servicing, fault-finding, and repairs on diesel-powered vehicles and transport equipment to ensure the fleet remains roadworthy, reliable, and operational. The successful candidate will support fleet operations by minimizing vehicle downtime and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine servicing and preventative maintenance on diesel vehicles and equipment.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electronic faults.
  • Repair and replace defective components on trucks, transporters, trailers, and fleet vehicles.
  • Perform engine overhauls, gearbox repairs, brake system repairs, suspension work, and drivetrain maintenance.
  • Carry out inspections to ensure vehicles comply with roadworthy and safety standards.
  • Attend to breakdowns and emergency repairs as required.
  • Complete job cards, service records, and maintenance reports accurately.
  • Ensure all repairs are completed within specified timeframes and according to manufacturer specifications.
  • Maintain workshop tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean and safe condition.
  • Adhere to all company safety procedures and industry regulations.
  • Assist with fleet availability planning and maintenance scheduling.
  • Support operational teams to ensure vehicles are available for collection, delivery, warehousing, and transportation activities.

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 / Matric.
  • Qualified Diesel Mechanic Trade Test (Red Seal preferred).
  • Minimum 3–5 years' post-trade experience as a Diesel Mechanic.
  • Experience working on heavy commercial vehicles, transporters, trucks, trailers, or logistics fleets.
  • Valid driver's licence.
  • Code EC driver's licence will be advantageous.
  • Must have own tools
  • Ability to use diagnostic equipment and fault-finding tools.
  • Experience with preventative maintenance programs.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations applicable to workshop environments.

  • Willingness to work overtime, weekends, or standby shifts when operationally required.

Contract Requirements

  • Available to commence employment immediately or on short notice.
  • Willing to work on a fixed-term contract basis.
  • Flexible to support operational requirements across fleet maintenance activities.
