Business Development Manager - Transport & Logistics

A leading logistics and transport solutions provider is seeking a commercially driven Business Development Manager to drive strategic growth across the FMCG, Mining, Building and Construction sectors in South Africa and the Sub-Saharan African region.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities.
• Develop and execute strategic business development plans.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients and stakeholders.
• Research market trends and identify growth opportunities.
• Manage tender submissions, RFQs, and RFPs.
• Negotiate contracts, pricing, and service agreements.
• Drive sales performance and achieve business growth targets.
• Develop tailored logistics solutions to meet client needs.
• Maintain and grow existing client relationships.
• Conduct market analysis and competitor assessments.
• Collaborate with operational teams to deliver exceptional service solutions.

Minimum Requirements

• Minimum 5 years' Business Development experience within the transport, freight, or logistics industry.
• Relevant qualification in Logistics, Supply Chain, Commerce, Transport Economics, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
• Proven success in new business acquisition and revenue growth.
• Experience servicing clients within the Mining, FMCG, and/or Building & Construction sectors.
• Strong understanding of transport and logistics operations.
• Experience with tenders, RFQs, and RFP submissions.
• Knowledge of cross-border and national transport operations.
• Sound understanding of tautliner freight operations.
• Knowledge of side tipper and bulk haulage operations will be advantageous.
• Strong negotiation, relationship-building, and communication skills.
• Valid driver's licence.
