Key Responsibilities

Technical Diagnostics and Repairs

  • Perform accurate fault finding, troubleshooting, and diagnostic assessments on equipment.
  • Prepare detailed job cards and technical reports.
  • Ensure diagnoses result in the most accurate and cost-effective repair solutions.
  • Carry out servicing, maintenance, and repairs as required and according to customer requests.
  • Conduct complete machine rebuilds when required.
  • Perform hydraulic system diagnostics and repairs.
  • Conduct electrical component diagnostics, repairs, and replacements.

Field Service and Customer Support

  • Respond promptly to customer service call-outs.
  • Provide on-site technical support and emergency breakdown assistance.
  • Assist fellow Service Technicians when required to ensure efficient service delivery.
  • Maintain professional customer relationships and provide technical guidance where necessary.

Inspections and Quality Assurance

  • Conduct pre-delivery inspections (PDIs) on equipment.
  • Ensure all machines meet operational and safety standards before release.
  • Verify that equipment returned to the rental fleet is clean, operational, and presented in a professional condition.
  • Adhere to all company quality standards and manufacturer specifications.

Parts and Inventory Management

  • Requisition parts, consumables, and materials required for maintenance and repair activities.
  • Maintain and safeguard workshop and field service stock.
  • Monitor inventory usage and report shortages where necessary.

Documentation and Reporting

  • Maintain accurate records of all services, repairs, inspections, and associated costs.
  • Complete and update job cards using the Asset Pool application.
  • Prepare technical reports and documentation as required.
  • Ensure all maintenance records are completed accurately and submitted on time.

Health, Safety and Compliance

  • Comply with all health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Promote safe working practices when operating and servicing equipment.
  • Ensure proper care and handling of customer and company assets.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications

  • Matric (Grade 12) or NTC3 minimum qualification.
  • Qualified Millwright or Diesel Mechanic Trade Certificate.

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience working on Mobile Elevated Working Platforms (MEWPs).
  • Experience with major MEWP brands such as Genie, JLG, Snorkel, ATN, or similar will be advantageous.
  • Proven experience in hydraulic fault finding and diagnostics.
  • Strong electrical diagnostics and component repair experience.

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong mechanical and technical troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to interpret technical manuals and schematics.
  • Computer literacy, including Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Good report writing and documentation skills.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.

Additional Requirements

  • Valid driver's licence.
  • Willingness to travel for field service and customer support activities.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet service deadlines.
