Job Details
The programme currently supports children aged 2 to 13 years. Its aim is to provide a safe and enjoyable environment where children can reach their full cognitive, emotional, social, and physical potential. The curriculum adopts an eclectic approach, using CAPS as a guideline and aligning with South African Department of Education standards.Generally, the Private Game Lodge Teacher’s Assistant is accountable for the following key result areas:Assist with all essential classroom requirements, including Occupational Health and Safety and administrative duties.Ages 5+: Deliver structured lessons appropriate for their age group in an engaging and constructive way.Ages 2–4: Design and oversee developmental and educational activities.Assisting with lesson planning and classroom activities.Supporting classroom administration and daily preparation tasks.Supporting structured learning activities and developmental play-based learning.Maintaining a safe, stimulating, and organised learning environment both indoors and outdoors.Collaborating effectively with teachers, management, and lodge departments when necessary.Supporting the monitoring and observation of children’s development under the guidance of teachers.Participating in training, mentoring, and development opportunitiesSupporting extracurricular and enrichment activities where necessary.Upholding professionalism, integrity, and discretion at all timesPlanning and implementing (with the support of the Lodge) extracurricular activities such as sports, game drives, and outings;Be willing to grow with the children’s teaching needs up to Grade 10 (ages 13-15).Be able to keep an orderly and organised learning environment, both outdoors and indoorsHave good social and observational skills and be a team playerExercise integrity and discretion Experience in teaching at well-recognised pre- or primary schools (minimum of 4 years’ work experience, of which 1 - 2 years can be as a trainee);
Enrolled in or planning to enrol for BEd, PGCE, Honours, or relevant ECD qualification, or completed studies seeking practical experience would be beneficial.
Passionate about working with young children
Able to work cooperatively within a professional team environment
Previous experience working with children would be advantageous
Good command of written and spoken English
Strong values, self-motivated, responsible, and driven
Ability to work independently and show initiative
Positive, flexible, and adaptable personality
Good Computer Literacy
Code 8/10 Driver’s Licence PDP would be beneficial
