SNR Specialist, Shipment & Expediting Jobs in Solwezi First Quantum Minerals invites qualified professionals to join our team in Solwezi, Northwestern Zambia, as a SNR Specialist, Shipment & Expediting. We seek individuals who can challenge convention and innovate continuously. Based at Kansanshi Mining Plc in Solwezi, the Specialist, Expediting reports to the Superintendent of Expediting and Logistics within the Commercial Department.

This full-time position is central to managing purchase orders, supplier performance, and mitigating supply chain risks, all while aligning expediting activities with operational demands, maintenance schedules, and production continuity.

Key Responsibilities for SNR Specialist Shipment Expediting Jobs in Solwezi Leadership & Team Management:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop Expediting Officers, allocate priorities based on operational criticality, and promote a collaborative, accountable team culture.

Purchase Order & Supply Assurance:

  • Oversee purchase orders from supplier acknowledgment through logistics handover, conduct weekly reviews of high-risk orders, and ensure timely delivery commitments.

Supplier Performance Management:

  • Lead supplier reviews, analyze delivery trends, develop improvement plans, and engage strategic suppliers to mitigate risks.

Supply Risk & Stock Management:

  • Monitor stock-out risks, maintain visibility of critical spares, coordinate recovery plans, and support operational readiness for shutdowns and breakdowns.

Freight Coordination:

  • Ensure timely handover of cargo to logistics, secure necessary documentation, optimize freight consolidation, and escalate logistics constraints.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Act as escalation point for supply risks, maintain strong cross-functional relationships, and ensure professional communication with suppliers and internal customers.

ERP Governance & Reporting:

  • Maintain data integrity in ERP systems, audit expediting information, validate reports and KPIs, and promote use of business intelligence tools.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify operational gaps, lead initiatives to improve procurement-to-delivery processes, and standardize best practices.

Safety & Compliance:

  • Champion safety culture, monitor team compliance, lead by example, and support audits and corrective actions.

Qualifications and Experience Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field (verified by Zambia Qualifications Authority). Professional certification such as CIPS Level 4 or higher is highly desirable.

Membership in an accredited national procurement institute like ZIPS is advantageous. 5 to 8 years of progressive experience in procurement, expediting, logistics, or supply chain management.

At least 2 years of supervisory or team leadership experience. Experience in mining, heavy industrial, or manufacturing environments is highly preferred.

Proven capability managing local and international suppliers, OEMs, and freight forwarders. Skills and Operational Requirements Strong proficiency with ERP systems such as Pronto, SAP, or Oracle and procurement-to-pay workflows.

Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills including Pivot Tables and data analysis. Experience with Power BI, Cognos, or similar business intelligence tools.

Excellent analytical, negotiation, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Outstanding leadership, communication, stakeholder engagement, and relationship management abilities.

Ability to interpret supply chain data and translate trends into actionable improvements. Capacity to manage competing priorities and deliver results in a fast-paced operational environment.
