This is a senior guiding role within a small, exclusive four-suite bush operation that also hosts a private villa. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned professional with a strong presence, the emotional intelligence to host discerning international guests; handling every interaction with discretion, calm, and care. A background in lodge management or operational oversight is a distinct advantage, as the successful candidate will be expected to take on broader managerial responsibilities in an interim capacity until a General Manager is appointed.

Core Criteria:

  • Professional Trails Guide (senior level) non-negotiable
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a comparable senior guiding role at a five-star lodge
  • Proven, stable work history with strong and verifiable references
  • Demonstrated experience hosting guests with physical disabilities or accessibility needs
  • Lodge or operational management experience is a strong advantage
  • Willingness to assume interim managerial duties until a General Manager is in place
  • Mature, grounded, and emotionally intelligent, able to read and respond to diverse guest needs
  • Extroverted, proactive, and polished in presentation and communication
  • Flexible and adaptable in a small, high-expectation team environment
  • Calm under pressure and consistent in service delivery
Core Responsibilities:
  • Lead and conduct professional guided walking and vehicle-based safaris
  • Host guests across all daily activities, ensuring a world-class and personalised safari experience
  • Assist and accommodate guests with mobility limitations and wheelchair accessibility needs with professionalism and sensitivity
  • Maintain an in-depth knowledge of the local ecosystem, wildlife, and conservation practices
  • Assume interim management responsibilities; including overseeing daily lodge operations, staff coordination, and service standards; until a permanent General Manager is placed
  • Uphold and model the property's five-star service and guiding standards at all times
  • Liaise closely with ownership and the hospitality team to ensure seamless guest experiences
  • Assist with the orientation and mentoring of junior guiding staff where applicable
  • Conduct pre-activity safety briefings and ensure all guiding protocols are strictly followed
This is a live in position with newly built en-suite staff accommodation.
