As the Senior Manager: Data & Analytics, your role is to lead and embed a data-driven culture across RMA by developing and executing data and analytics strategy that enables informed decision-making, enhances customer outcomes, ensures regulatory compliance (e.g., COIDA), and drives operational efficiency.

THE JOB AT A GLANCE



As the Senior Manager: Data & Analytics, your role is to lead and embed a data-driven culture across RMA by developing and executing data and analytics strategy that enables informed decision-making, enhances customer outcomes, ensures regulatory compliance (e.g., COIDA), and drives operational efficiency. Your role is accountable for transforming data into strategic insights that support RMA’s mandate as a social insurer while delivering measurable business value across COIDA administration, Life products and AIT services.




WHAT YOU WILL DO



Strategic Leadership



  • Execute enterprise-wide data & analytics strategy aligned to RMA’s social insurance mandate
  • Champion data-driven decision-making at a leadership level.
  • Translate business strategy into actionable analytics priorities.

Organisational Influence & Impact



  • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on data-led opportunities and risks
  • Drive enterprise-wide adoption of data governance and analytics standards
  • Influence business units to embed analytics into operational processes.

Data Governance & Compliance



  • Ensure compliance with COIDA reporting requirements and insurance regulatory standards
  • Implement data governance frameworks covering quality, integrity, security and privacy (POPIA)
  • Oversee audit readiness and regulatory submissions.

Analytics & Insights Delivery



  • Lead development of predictive models for claims trends, risk profiling and fraud detection
  • Enable customer intelligence (segmentation, retention, service optimization)
  • Deliver actionable dashboards and insights to business stakeholders.

Operational Excellence



  • Oversee data platforms, pipelines and business intelligence tools
  • Ensure scalable and secure data architecture
  • Manage budgets, vendor relationships and project delivery.

People Leadership



  • Build and lead high-performing analytics and data management teams
  • Develop skills pipelines (data science, BI, engineering)
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and innovation.

Innovation & Value Creation



  • Identify opportunities to monetize data or improve cost efficiency
  • Leverage emerging technologies (AI, automation, cloud analytics)
  • Drive digital transformation initiatives aligned to corporate strategy.

Requirements:

WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO THE TABLE



  • Bachelor’s Degree in Data Science, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Computer Science or related field
  • Postgraduate qualification (Honours/Master’s) – preferred
  • Business or Leadership qualification (e.g., MBA) – advantageous
  • 5 – 8 or more years in data & analytics, preferably within insurance, financial services, or regulated sectors
  • Minimum 4–5 years in senior leadership roles
  • Proven experience in:

    • Insurance analytics (claims, underwriting, actuarial support)
    • Regulatory reporting (COIDA, insurance frameworks)
    • Data governance & enterprise analytics strategy
    • Leading multidisciplinary data teams


  • Experience with social insurance or public sector regulatory frameworks – advantageous.
