About the Role:

Senior Environmental Officer – Environmental Management & Systems Reporting directly to the Coordinator Environment - LEP, you will provide daily environmental oversight and field assurance for the construction and implementation of the Kamisengo Inflow Control Dam (KICD).

Your primary responsibility will be to ensure all construction activities comply with approved environmental requirements, permits, Environmental Management Plans (EMPs), company standards, and relevant legislation. Key Responsibilities for Environmental Officer Jobs in Kalumbila Conduct daily environmental inspections and monitor KICD construction activities and associated areas.

Ensure implementation of Environmental Management Plans, environmental controls, permit conditions, and project commitments. Supervise contractor environmental performance to guarantee compliance with environmental standards on site.

Manage environmental risks related to earthworks, excavation, dam construction, vegetation clearing, water management, waste, fuel, and hazardous materials. Coordinate environmental monitoring efforts, including water quality, dust, noise, waste, and soil parameters.

Identify non-conformances and ensure corrective actions are executed and closed out effectively. Support investigation, reporting, and management of environmental incidents, spills, complaints, and other events.

Conduct environmental audits of contractors and verify compliance with LMC and project environmental requirements. Provide environmental guidance to construction supervisors, engineers, contractors, and project personnel.

Oversee vegetation clearing, topsoil management, waste management, and rehabilitation of disturbed areas. Maintain accurate field records, inspection reports, monitoring results, and environmental registers.

Support regulatory inspections and ensure environmental commitments and approval conditions are met. Provide timely environmental updates to the Environmental Coordinator and Project Management Team.

Contribute to environmental improvement initiatives and continuous enhancement of environmental performance. Candidate Requirements Grade 12 certificate.

Bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering management or a related field. Minimum of four (4) years relevant experience, preferably within mining, power transmission linear infrastructure, construction, or major capital projects.

Knowledge of ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems and environmental auditing is advantageous. Strong understanding of environmental legislation, regulatory requirements, permits, licenses, EMPs, ESIA commitments, and approval conditions.

Experience in environmental monitoring, inspections, incident investigations, and corrective action implementation. Proven ability to work effectively with contractors and construction teams in active field environments.

Membership of the Engineering Institution of Zambia. Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.

Demonstrated experience liaising with regulatory authorities, consultants, contractors, and project teams. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
