Senior Civil Engineer

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Civil Design Engineer to join their growing engineering team. This is an exciting opportunity for a technically strong and innovative civil engineer to lead the detailed design and delivery of major infrastructure projects across South Africa.
Working within a collaborative multidisciplinary environment, you will take ownership of complex civil engineering designs while mentoring junior engineers and contributing to the successful execution of high-impact projects.

The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities

Civil Infrastructure Design

• Lead the detailed design of civil engineering infrastructure projects.
• Design roads, intersections, stormwater drainage systems, bulk earthworks, and pipeline networks.
• Prepare engineering calculations, technical reports, and design documentation.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant South African standards and client requirements.
• Review and approve engineering drawings and technical deliverables.

Project Leadership

• Manage multiple design projects simultaneously.
• Coordinate design activities across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Monitor project schedules, deliverables, and quality objectives.
• Participate in client meetings, technical reviews, and project planning sessions.

Technical Leadership

• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to graduate and junior engineers.
• Conduct design reviews and quality assurance checks.
• Identify engineering risks and develop practical solutions.
• Promote continuous improvement and engineering best practices.

Stakeholder Engagement

• Liaise with clients, contractors, authorities, and project stakeholders.
• Support business development activities through technical input and proposal preparation.
• Maintain strong working relationships with internal and external project teams.

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications

• BEng or BTech in Civil Engineering.
• Professional registration with ECSA (Pr Eng or Pr Tech Eng) is essential.

Experience

• Proven experience in the detailed design of civil infrastructure projects.
• Strong background in:
  • Road design
  • Stormwater and drainage systems
  • Bulk earthworks
  • Pipeline design
• Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering projects.
• Previous consulting engineering experience will be advantageous.
