Minimum requirements for the role:

• Must have a B. Sc. Degree in Agriculture or related field
• Minimum 2–5 years’ experience in agronomy/field crops (cereals preferred)
• Must have experience with farmer extension, demo plots, and/or trials
• Familiarity with agro-chemicals, farm equipment, and local production systems is advantageous
• Computer literate, with proficiency in Microsoft Excel and basic data capture tools
• Fluent in English; proficiency in a local language will be advantageous
• Must have a valid driver’s license (motorcycle); regular field travel will be required

• Planning and executing variety trials, ensuring the execution of demo plots, and managing and developing trial protocols.
• Generating insights and codifying best practices for varieties, inputs, and agronomy protocols.
• Translating results into farmer training content and updating protocols accordingly.
• Partnering with Zone Research Specialists, the Global Barley Innovation Team, and third parties on variety development planning and execution.
• Identifying constraints and implementing interventions to improve yield, quality, and cost per ton.
• Tracking crop performance and driving in-season mitigation through farmer engagement.
• Delivering technical training, conducting field visits, and providing demo plot coaching.
• Ensuring adherence to crop protocols and responsible sourcing and sustainability standards.
• Supporting farmer days and facilitating knowledge transfer at scale.
• Executing regional production plans, including seed and input planning and distribution, planting alignment, crop monitoring, and pre-harvest estimates.
• Providing accurate in-season forecasts and end-of-season analyses and updating protocols based on learnings.
• Ensuring high-quality data capture for production and sustainability initiatives (e.g. SCFE 2030).
• Reporting progress against plans, identifying risks early, and tracking mitigation actions.
• Managing relationships with aggregators, agents, community leaders, and lead farmers.
• Overseeing third-party resources against SLAs, escalating gaps, and ensuring service delivery.
• Identifying and executing improvement initiatives to enhance yield, quality, and cost efficiency.
• Building leadership capability in preparation for Team Leader succession.
