A renowned private conservation reserve in the Kalahari is seeking a dedicated and nurturing SCHOOL TEACHER to join their on-reserve team This role is suited to a qualified early childhood educator who is comfortable living and working in a remote wilderness environment, and who genuinely thrives in a close-knit community setting. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and delivering a structured, developmentally appropriate pre-school programme for children of staff living on the reserve. Core Criteria: Tertiary qualification in Education (BEd) essential Formal training in Early Childhood Development required Montessori accreditation advantageous Valid driver's licence required Computer literate Comfortable living and working in a remote, wilderness environment Weekend availability and occasional after-hours support required Applicants local to the Northern Cape given preference Strong communication skills with both children and parents Ability to manage a small team and maintain programme administration Core Responsibilities: Plan and implement a developmentally appropriate pre-school programme addressing the physical, emotional, intellectual, and social needs of each child Supervise children at all times, maintaining a safe, structured, and nurturing environment Provide a variety of learning experiences including storytelling, games, songs, and activities introducing early literacy and numeracy concepts Develop culturally inclusive programmes and establish consistent routines and positive guidance frameworks Observe and document children's progress and communicate regularly with parents Plan and coordinate holiday programmes for children on the reserve Integrate children with special needs in a respectful and supportive manner Manage programme administration including daily activity plans and monthly schedules Train; guide, and conduct performance assessments of any departmental support staff Liaise with relevant professionals regarding identified developmental concerns Participate in community activities and promote early education and literacy On Offer: Live-in position, accommodation provided (responsible for own food) Salary: R25,000 per month Provident fund: 7.5% employee contribution Discovery Medical Aid: 50% company contribution Weekend work required with occasional after-hours availability A meaningful role within one of South Africa's most respected conservation environments
