Key Responsibilities

  • Manage engineering projects from feasibility studies through design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover.
  • Develop detailed project scopes, schedules, budgets, and resource plans.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams, contractors, suppliers, and consultants.
  • Monitor project progress and ensure milestones are achieved within agreed timelines.
  • Prepare and manage project budgets, cost forecasts, and expenditure reports.
  • Conduct technical evaluations and recommend suitable engineering solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with engineering standards, statutory regulations, quality requirements, and health and safety legislation.
  • Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Manage procurement activities, including preparing technical specifications and evaluating supplier proposals.
  • Oversee equipment installation, commissioning, testing, and final acceptance.
  • Prepare project documentation, including progress reports, technical reports, and close-out documentation.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance project delivery and operational efficiency.
  • Provide technical support to maintenance and production teams where required.

Minimum Requirements

  • BEng/BSc/BTech in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience managing engineering or capital projects within a manufacturing, FMCG, mining, petrochemical, energy, or heavy industrial environment.
  • Proven experience delivering projects from initiation to successful completion.
  • Strong understanding of engineering design principles, project planning, budgeting, procurement, and contractor management.
  • Experience using project management software such as Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Registration as a Professional Engineer or Professional Engineering Technologist (advantageous).
  • Formal Project Management qualification or certification (PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent).
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Continuous Improvement methodologies.
  • Experience with Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) such as SAP PM or similar.
