MSD's programmatic focus spans multiple sectors, including Health and Nutrition (TB, HIV/AIDS, SRH, MNCH), Education (access to quality education, TVET, and skills development), Social Mobilization and Livelihood (economic strengthening and prevention of HTPs, GBV, and FGM), Migration and Trafficking (safe migration and rehabilitation of returnees and victims), Child Care and Development (child protection, early childhood care, and infant feeding), and Human Rights and Good Governance (democratization, peace building, and dialogue).

In addition, MSD engages in Humanitarian and Emergency Response (supporting disaster-affected and displaced communities) and Environment and Climate Change (promoting environmental sustainability and biodiversity conservation). Through these integrated interventions, MSD works closely with government institutions, community structures, and development partners to foster inclusive growth, equity, and resilience at all levels of society.

I. JOB SUMMARY: 

The Project Coordinator/Education Specialist is responsible for the overall coordination, technical leadership, implementation, monitoring, and reporting of the PalyMatter 3.0 project that intended to   support schools and improve quality education at project implementation district, Dangila Woreda. The incumbent serves as the primary liaison between the organization, Plan International, district education authorities, schools, communities, and other stakeholders.

The position ensures that project interventions improve equitable access to quality education, strengthen school systems, enhance teaching and learning, build institutional capacity, and achieve project results within approved time, budget, quality standards, and donor requirements.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

1. Project Management and Coordination

Lead the day-to-day implementation of project activities according to the approved work plan, Prepare detailed quarterly and monthly implementation plans, Ensure activities are delivered on time, within budget and according to quality standards, Coordinate all field operations within the project district, Track implementation progress against project indicators and milestones, Identify implementation bottlenecks and recommend corrective measures, Ensure compliance with organizational and donor policies and procedures, Coordinate procurement requests related to project implementation and Organize project review meetings and follow-up action points. 

2. Technical Leadership on Education

Provide technical guidance on improving the quality of education through: School Improvement Planning, Teaching and learning quality enhancement, Child-centered pedagogy, Inclusive education, Gender-responsive education, Safe school programming, Teacher professional development, Community participation in education and Education in Emergencies (where applicable) 

Specific responsibilities include: Provide technical support to target schools, Guide implementation of evidence-based educational interventions, Support teachers and school leaders through coaching and mentoring, Strengthen school management committees/PTAs, Promote learner-centered instructional practices, Facilitate professional learning communities, Promote inclusive learning environments for girls, children with disabilities and vulnerable learners and Ensure safeguarding and child protection principles are integrated into all educational interventions. 

3. Stakeholder Coordination

Serve as the project's primary district focal person by: Maintaining strong collaboration with District Education Office, Coordinating with Cluster Resource Centers, and Working closely with school principals. Engaging PTAs and School Boards, Coordinating with community leader, working with women's groups and youth groups, Liaising with Plan International field staff, participating in district education coordination forums and Represent the organization in education sector meetings whenever delegated.

4. Capacity Building

Conduct training needs assessments, Develop training plans, Facilitate training for teachers. , Build capacity of school leaders, Support community education structures, Organize experience-sharing events as needed. 

 

5. Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL)

In collaboration with M&E Officer, develop activity-monitoring schedules, Ensure routine collection of project data, Verify quality of project data, Monitor project indicators, Conduct supportive supervision, Participate in baseline, midline and end-line assessments, Document lessons learned and best practices., Prepare success stories and case studies and Promote evidence-based decision making. 

6. Reporting

Ensure different periodic reports, updates including success stories are accurate, documented and  reported timely per the schedule.

7. Financial and Resource Management

Prepare activity budgets, Monitor budget utilization, Review expenditures against plans, Ensure value for money, Verify supporting documents, Support financial forecasting and Ensure accountability for project assets. 

8. Safeguarding and Child Protection

Ensure full compliance with safeguarding standards, Report safeguarding concerns immediately, Promote safe learning environments, Ensure all project activities uphold children's right and Integrate protection principles into implementation. 

9. Partnership Management

Maintain effective communication with Plan International and local actors; Coordinate joint monitoring missions; and Promote visibility according to donor branding guidelines.
