Available Positions and Role Overviews Monitoring and Evaluation Officer The Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Officer will develop and maintain systems to measure loan performance, social impact, and agricultural productivity.

This role also leads capacity-building initiatives for staff and farmer clients to enhance financial literacy and agronomic skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and manage M&E frameworks including KPIs and impact metrics focused on agribusiness lending.
  • Develop digital and physical tools for socio-economic and agronomic data collection and conduct field surveys.
  • Analyze data to assess loan outcomes and social/environmental impact, producing detailed reports for management and donors.
  • Coordinate training programs for farmers and staff, including logistics, curriculum development, and partner engagement.
  • Translate M&E findings into actionable insights to improve loan products and document success stories.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Agricultural Economics, Statistics, Development Studies, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in M&E within microfinance, rural banking, or agribusiness development.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, statistical software (SPSS, Stata, R), and digital data collection tools (ODK, KoboToolbox).
  • Strong agribusiness knowledge and excellent cross-cultural communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel frequently (up to 50%) to rural areas.
  • Loan Officer The Agricultural Loan Officer will manage a portfolio of loans targeting smallholder farmers, cooperatives, and agribusinesses.

This role involves client outreach, credit appraisal, risk assessment, and portfolio monitoring to ensure timely repayments aligned with agricultural cycles.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and recruit eligible clients, conduct community sensitization on loan products and financial literacy.
  • Perform on-farm appraisals, assess production capacity, and analyze seasonal cash flows for loan suitability.
  • Prepare loan appraisal reports, ensure timely disbursements, and conduct monitoring visits throughout production cycles.
  • Manage loan collections and maintain low Portfolio at Risk (PAR).

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agribusiness, Agricultural Economics, Agronomy, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
  • At least 2 years’ experience as a Loan or Credit Officer in a microfinance institution or micro-lending bank.
  • Proven experience with agricultural lending portfolios and working with rural, low-income populations.
  • Valid driving or riding license with willingness to travel on rural roads.
  • Competency in using tablets and mobile banking applications for loan processing.
  • Finance Manager The Finance Manager will oversee daily financial operations, ensure accurate accounting, and manage cash flows specific to agricultural lending.

This role includes financial reporting, compliance, and treasury management within the microfinance environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain general ledger and perform reconciliations of bank accounts and digital wallets.
  • Manage cash flow for seasonal agricultural loan disbursements and revolving funds.
  • Supervise cash handling, payments, payroll, and statutory deductions.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and coordinate audits.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related business field.
  • Partial or full professional accounting certification (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, CA, ZICA, CPA) preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in finance or accounting within a microfinance institution or similar.
  • Experience with agricultural loan products and microfinance loan tracking systems.
  • Operations Manager The Operations Manager will lead credit operations, focusing on agricultural financial products, team supervision, risk mitigation, and portfolio growth.

This role ensures operational compliance and fosters partnerships to support value-chain financing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage appraisal, approval, and disbursement of agricultural loans aligned with cash flow cycles.
  • Lead and train field supervisors and loan officers to maintain policy adherence and service quality.
  • Monitor Portfolio at Risk and implement strategies to mitigate defaults during seasonal or market challenges.
  • Develop and refine microfinance products tailored to agricultural needs.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and consumer protection laws.
  • Collaborate with agricultural suppliers, buyers, and extension agents to reduce loan risk.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agribusiness, Agricultural Economics, Finance, Business Administration, or related field; MBA or microfinance certification is advantageous.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in microfinance or credit sector with at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
  • Proven expertise in agricultural credit product management and understanding of smallholder farming dynamics.
  • Proficiency in core banking systems, mobile money integration, and portfolio analytics tools.
