MBChB Program Coordinator (1)

Location: Monze Campus

Qualifications and Experience

  • Grade 12 Certificate with Five (5) O'levels.
  • MBChB/MD or equivalent medical qualification.
  • A postgraduate/specialist qualification especially in basic sciences.
  • Appropriate academic rank and at least three years demonstrated school administration and teaching experience.
  • Demonstrated research and scholarly activity.
  • Experience in curriculum development assessment as an added advantage.
  • Certified and ZAQA-verified academic and professional qualifications.
  • Valid practicing licence from Health Professional Council of Zambia.

Job Purpose

To provide strategic leadership, teaching and effectively run the MBChB Program by planning, coordination, implementation, monitoring to facilitate continuous improvement of the MBChB Program and ensuring that teaching, assessment, and clinical training comply with university and professional/regulatory requirements.

Major Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the overall delivery of the MBChB programme.
  • Coordinate curriculum implementation, review and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure alignment of the curriculum with applicable medical education and professional standards.
  • Coordinate teaching activities across departments, phases and clinical disciplines.
  • Coordinate clinical rotations and other experiential learning activities.
  • Oversee undergraduate assessments, examinations and progression processes.
  • Chair or provide secretariat support to the MBChB Programme Committee.
  • Coordinate communication between departments, lecturers, clinical sites and students.
  • Monitor student academic progress and address academic programme-related concerns.
  • Coordinate student feedback and implement appropriate programme improvements.
  • Work with module/phase coordinators to ensure consistency in teaching and assessment.
  • Serve as a program coordinator as assigned by the Chairperson or Dean of the school.
  • Serve on committees as may be assigned by management.
  • Attend faculty meetings, departmental meetings, general assemblies, graduation exercises, and other designated university functions regularly.
  • Carry out any activity assigned by supervisors.

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of the subject area, combined with a broad subject background, enables contributions to teaching programmes.
  • Ability to supervise and evaluate students in Nursing / Health Sciences.
  • Knowledge of laboratory and audio/visual aids.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to teach and supervise undergraduate academic work.
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to work with strict deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
