Job Description

  • We are seeking a highly experienced and proactive Marine Technical Superintendent to join our growing team.
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for the technical management of company vessels, ensuring optimal performance, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the technical operations and maintenance of company vessels.
  • Plan and supervise vessel repairs, dry docking, and statutory surveys.
  • Ensure compliance with IMO, NIMASA, Flag State, Class Society, ISM Code, and other applicable regulations.
  • Prepare and monitor maintenance budgets and technical expenditures.
  • Coordinate procurement of marine spare parts and technical services.
  • Conduct vessel inspections and technical audits.
  • Investigate technical failures and implement corrective actions.
  • Provide technical support to vessel crews and management.

Requirements

  • M.Sc in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline, OR Class I/II Marine Engineer Certificate of Competency CoC.
  • Must have 5–10 years' marine engineering experience, with at least 3 years in a shore-based technical management role.
  • Strong knowledge of offshore support vessels, tugboats, security vessels, supply vessels, or merchant vessels.
  • Excellent understanding of IMO, NIMASA, ISM Code, MLC, Flag State, and Classification Society requirements.
  • Experience with planned maintenance systems, dry docking, budgeting, technical reporting, and vendor management.
  • Must currently reside in Port Harcourt.
  • Preferred age: 40 years or below.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent technical report writing, communication and emailing .
  • Strong leadership, analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilities.

Preferred Certifications:

  • Marine Engineer Class I/II CoC
  • STCW Basic Safety Training
  • ISM Internal Auditor
  • NEBOSH or IOSH
  • HSE Certification.
