Fincred Finance is a dynamic financial services institution committed to excellence in credit and debt management. We are seeking a results-driven Legal Officer to join our team and lead our litigation and legal recovery function.

About the Role

The Legal Officer will serve as the principal legal advisor to management and will carry hands-on responsibility for all litigation matters, including debt recovery proceedings, enforcement actions, and dispute resolution. The role demands a practitioner who can manage a high volume of cases while maintaining strategic oversight of the company’s legal risk exposure.

Key Responsibilities

•     Initiate, manage, and conduct debt recovery litigation across courts of competent jurisdiction

•     Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, loan agreements, security documents, and settlement terms

•     Provide legal guidance to the Executive and senior management on compliance, regulatory matters, and operational risk

•     Liaise with external counsel, regulatory authorities, and collection partners as required

•     Maintain a structured legal case register and ensure all matters are progressed within required timelines

Qualifications & Experience

•     Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB or equivalent)

•     Current bar admission or valid practicing license

•     2–5 years of experience in debt recovery, litigation, banking, financial services, or collections-related legal work

•     Strong knowledge of civil procedure, contract law, and debt enforcement mechanisms

•     Experience handling high-volume legal cases is an added advantage

•     A clean Class B driver’s license is a must
