1. Purpose of the Role
To install, maintain and repair all styles of air conditioning systems in buildings and related areas and to ensure the proper functioning of all air conditioning equipment for maximum efficiency and minimum downtime.
2. Key Responsibilities 2.1. Heating, Ventilation and Air-Conditioning Installation, Maintenance and Repair
Perform maintenance and service repairs on heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems.
Install new units or replacement parts for existing units according to specifications and established safety guidelines.
Draw up schedule maintenance plans for servicing and installing refrigeration and air conditioning related equipment.
Maintain a onetime fix rate for all refrigeration and air conditioning-related equipment.
Make suggestions to the Maintenance Manager on how to improve work and improve effectiveness and efficiency.
Carry out routine checks on heating, ventilation and air conditioning plant and equipment and review performance.
Trouble-shoot and diagnose problems and perform maintenance on equipment on site.
Make recommendations to replace equipment if expected costs to repair exceeds possible replacement costs.
2.2. Safety, Health, Environment, Risk and Quality Compliance
Comply with all the health and safety procedures/method statements/JHA/JSA and the control action points discussed in the toolbox talks diligently.
Comply with Company HSE policy and other applicable HSE rules / procedures.
Maintain a safe and secure working environment.
Ensure all HSE safety regulations are adhered to by all employees.
Maintain and enforce safety procedures, including all lockout and safe work procedures.
Work in and maintain a working environment with an acceptable level of housekeeping.
Correctly use and maintain PPE at all times.
Use and maintain workshop tooling in accordance to working specifications and conditions.
Report and assist in the analysis of incidents or potential hazards.
2.3. Staff Supervision
Manage maintenance staff shift rosters, time-keeping, leave rosters, and attendance.
Manage or redirect employee queries as required.
Conduct employee appraisals.
Manage first level labour relations matters.
Identify areas for employee development.
2.4. Effective Teamwork and Self-Management
Take ownership and accountability for tasks and activities and demonstrate effective self-management in terms of planning and prioritising and self-development.
Follow through to ensure that quality and productivity standards of work are consistently and accurately maintained.
Inform relevant parties in the event of tasks or deadlines not met, the potential risks thereof and provide appropriate resolution.

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
A minimum of a craft/trade certificate in Refrigeration & Air Conditioning
A minimum of five years’ work experience in a commercial or industrial environment in gas handling/recovery or any equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform job duties
