Position Summary

CMD Zambia Limited seeks an experienced Heavy Industrial Maintenance & Administrative Manager to lead heavy plant equipment maintenance and ensure operational, logistical, and regulatory compliance. This dual leadership role combines technical engineering oversight with administrative governance to maximize equipment uptime, control costs, and uphold statutory standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintenance Leadership: Direct preventative, routine, and emergency maintenance for mining machinery (excavators, haul trucks, crushing plants, conveyors, processing equipment).
  • Technical Diagnostics: Conduct root-cause analyses, asset life-cycle evaluations, and implement SOPs aligned with international standards and Zambian regulations.
  • Inventory Control: Manage spare parts, tooling, and component stock to minimize downtime.
  • Administrative Oversight: Supervise budgets, procurement, vendor contracts, and prepare technical/financial reports for executive leadership.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to Mines Safety Regulations, Environmental Management Act, and OSH standards.
  • Workforce Management: Oversee crew scheduling, performance management, and technical training.
  • Cross-Cultural Coordination: Liaise with local teams, foreign contractors, and international equipment suppliers; manage importation logistics and customs documentation.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree or Higher Diploma in Mechanical/Plant Engineering, Industrial Management, or related field.
  • Professional Registration: EIZ registration and valid Practicing Certificate (or eligibility).
  • Experience: 8–10 years in heavy industrial maintenance, with 3–5 years in management.
  • International Exposure: Proven foreign mining experience required.
  • Technical Skills: Expertise in fleet management, hydraulics, diagnostic software, and CMMS systems.

Language & Competencies

  • English: Professional fluency (spoken and written).
  • Additional Languages: Russian or French highly desirable for vendor coordination.
  • Core Skills: Leadership, conflict resolution, and cross-cultural communication.
