Job Details

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the day-to-day management and overall operations of the branch
  • Liaise with shipping lines, clients, suppliers, and other service providers
  • Manage branch profitability and ensure accurate financial documentation is submitted to the accounts department
  • Process import and export files (air, sea and road) from receipt through to invoicing, delivery, costing and file closure
  • Monitor stack dates, ATA, containers and LCL shipments
  • Prepare and process SAD500 documentation for imports, exports and RIT
  • Process EUR1s, Shipping Instructions, Certificates, Hazardous Goods applications, and arrange fumigation and inspections
  • Handle shipments from estimating through to month-end file closure
  • Respond to client queries and correspondence efficiently
  • Build and maintain strong client and supplier relationships to support business growth
  • Lead, mentor, train and develop the branch team while managing performance, appraisals and disciplinary processes
  • Recruit, interview and cross-train employees to maintain a skilled and capable workforce
  • Provide operational support and backup across the office when required
Minimum Requirements:
  • Matric 
  • Further shipping or logistics qualifications will be advantageous
  • Minimum 5 years' managerial experience in an operational or similar leadership role
  • Minimum 7 years' experience in import Bill of Entry tariffing and import / export procedures for sea and air freight, including groupage and FCL shipments, in a Client Controller role
  • Sound knowledge of SARS tariffing, Bill of Entry processing, and import / export regulations
  • Computer literate with strong Outlook and Excel skills (experience on ShipShape will be advantageous)
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Strong leadership, organisational and time management skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving ability
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proactive with the ability to take initiative
  • Commercially and financially astute with a strong customer service focus
  • Able to work with urgency while maintaining accuracy
