This full-time role is based in Ridgeway, Lusaka, Zambia, and offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the maintenance and repair of farm machinery, equipment, vehicles, and motorcycles supporting GART’s commercial farm operations.

Position Overview:

  • Farm Workshop Mechanic As a Farm Workshop Mechanic at GART, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the efficient operation of farm machinery and equipment.
  • The successful candidate will work closely with the Farm Manager to plan and execute workshop activities, maintain equipment reliability, and supervise workshop personnel.
  • This position demands technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a dynamic agricultural environment.
  • Key Responsibilities for Farm Workshop Mechanic Jobs in Lusaka Plan and coordinate workshop activities in collaboration with the Farm Manager.
  • Perform timely servicing and preventive maintenance of farm machinery and equipment.
  • Diagnose mechanical faults and carry out repairs on tractors, diesel engines, and farm implements.
  • Overhaul farm machinery and vehicles as required to ensure optimal performance.
  • Calibrate and set machinery for efficient field operations.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of repairs and maintenance work.
  • Ensure the workshop and surrounding areas are clean, safe, and well-organized.
  • Supervise and mentor workshop staff to maintain high standards.
  • Qualifications and Experience Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Agricultural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline from a recognized institution.
  • A minimum of 5 to 7 years’ relevant experience, preferably as a workshop mechanic in a busy agricultural setting.
  • Proven experience repairing and maintaining tractors, diesel engines, and farm implements.
  • Sound knowledge of irrigation systems, including booster pump installations, borehole pumps, and centre pivot irrigation systems.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Membership with the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ) is required.
