Company and Job Description
Our client, a well-established organisation within the manufacturing sector, is seeking a Cost Controller to join their finance team on a 12-month fixed-term contract. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring accurate cost accounting, product costing, inventory analysis, reporting, and financial control across operations.
Working closely with internal stakeholders, you will provide valuable insights into cost performance, profitability, budgeting, and capital expenditure management. This role offers excellent exposure to operational finance and cost management within a complex manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyse and allocate fixed and variable costs to the appropriate cost centres and accounts.
- Monitor and maintain standard costs against actual costs and moving average costs.
- Conduct product profitability and margin analysis.
- Ensure the accuracy of product costing structures, including material, labour, and overhead costs.
- Prepare monthly cost and operational reports for management and group reporting purposes.
- Assist with annual standard cost calculations and updates.
- Support internal and external audit processes relating to inventory, sales orders, purchase orders, and accounting transactions.
- Participate in inventory counts and investigate inventory variances.
- Perform inventory and cost-of-sales reconciliations.
- Assist with budget planning, monitoring, and cost control initiatives.
- Manage and report on capital expenditure (CAPEX) investments.
- Complete monthly reporting for rail, truck, and other operational activities.
Job Experience and Skills Required
Education:
- BTech or BCom Degree in Cost and Management Accounting, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Studying towards or completed CIMA qualification will be advantageous.
Experience:
- Minimum 3 years' experience in a Cost Accounting, Cost Controller, Management Accounting, or similar role.
- Experience within a manufacturing environment will be advantageous.
- Exposure to inventory management, product costing, budgeting, and financial reporting.
Skills:
- SAP R/3 experience is essential.
- Strong working knowledge of SAP CO (Controlling) modules.
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to investigate discrepancies and provide meaningful financial insights.
- Able to work effectively under pressure and meet strict reporting deadlines.
