Job Summary

  • Our client is seeking a highly skilled and innovative Certified Cosmetics Formulator to develop, test, and optimize premium skincare, body care, and wellness products for their spa.
  • The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of cosmetic science, ingredient functionality, formulation techniques, and regulatory compliance.
  • This role is responsible for creating safe, effective, and market-ready formulations that align with the spa's brand identity and customer needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research, develop, and formulate high-quality skincare, body care, and spa treatment products.
  • Create formulations for products such as:
    • Facial cleansers
    • Facial serums
    • Moisturizers
    • Body lotions
    • Body butters
    • Massage oils
    • Body scrubs
    • Face masks
    • Toners
    • Essential oil blends
    • Hair care products
  • Conduct product stability, compatibility, microbial, and performance testing.
  • Prepare formulation records, manufacturing procedures, and batch documentation.
  • Ensure all formulations comply with NAFDAC regulations and international cosmetic safety standards.
  • Stay updated on cosmetic industry trends, emerging ingredients, and consumer preferences.
  • Work closely with production to ensure successful scale-up from laboratory to commercial production.
  • Troubleshoot formulation challenges and improve existing products.
  • Develop innovative products using natural, organic, botanical, and active ingredients where appropriate.
  • Recommend packaging compatible with each formulation.
  • Prepare ingredient specifications and product technical documents.
  • Conduct quality control checks on raw materials and finished products.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team by providing technical information for product launches.
  • Maintain proper laboratory hygiene, safety standards, and documentation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Cosmetic Science, Industrial Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related field.
  • Professional certification in Cosmetic Formulation or Cosmetic Science from a recognized institution.
  • Additional certifications in Organic or Natural Cosmetic Formulation are an advantage.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in cosmetic formulation.
  • Proven experience developing skincare, body care, and spa products.
  • Experience working with natural, botanical, and active ingredients.
  • Experience in laboratory testing and cosmetic product development.
  • Experience in commercial-scale manufacturing is an added advantage.
