Key Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of the full bookkeeping function across multiple entities, ensuring accurate financial records up to trial balance.
  • Process day-to-day financial transactions, including journals, cashbooks, supplier invoices, customer accounts, and general ledger maintenance.
  • Perform regular reconciliations of bank accounts, debtors, creditors, and balance sheet accounts.
  • Manage accounts receivable and accounts payable processes, ensuring timely collections and supplier payments.
  • Prepare and submit VAT returns and other statutory submissions through SARS eFiling.
  • Administer the monthly payroll process, including employee payslips and payroll-related compliance.
  • Handle payroll taxes and statutory obligations, including PAYE, UIF, SDL, and related submissions.
  • Assist with month-end procedures and prepare management accounts for review by the finance team.
  • Support the ongoing improvement of financial processes, controls, and reporting within a growing business environment.


Requirements

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a full-function bookkeeping role, with responsibility through to trial balance.
  • Solid working knowledge of SARS eFiling, including VAT and payroll-related submissions.
  • Experience processing payroll using Sage/Pastel Payroll or a similar payroll platform.
  • Strong reconciliation skills and a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Comfortable managing a high-volume debtor environment and maintaining accurate customer accounts.
  • Well-organized, dependable, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong communication skills and a proactive, solutions-focused approach.

Advantageous

  • Relevant bookkeeping or accounting qualification, or studies towards a finance-related degree.
  • Previous experience within a retail, wholesale, or credit-driven business environment.
  • Ability to communicate in both English and Afrikaans.
