Job Description

  • We are seeking a competent and proactive Biomedical Engineer to join our team.
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the effective installation, maintenance, calibration, repair, and management of medical equipment to support the delivery of quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, inspect, maintain, and repair medical equipment.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance and equipment calibration.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment faults promptly.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance and service records.
  • Ensure all medical equipment complies with safety and regulatory standards.
  • Liaise with equipment vendors for servicing and warranty issues.
  • Train clinical staff on the proper use and care of medical equipment.
  • Recommend equipment upgrades or replacements when necessary.
  • Support the procurement, acceptance testing, and commissioning of new medical equipment.
  • Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns to minimize downtime.

Educational Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or Higher National Diploma HND in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or a related discipline.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 2–3 years' relevant experience in a hospital or healthcare environment.
  • Experience maintaining diagnostic, laboratory, theatre, ICU, and imaging equipment is an added advantage.

Other Requirements:

  • Professional certification or membership with a relevant professional body is an added advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of medical equipment safety standards.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and respond effectively under pressure.
  • Willingness to work beyond regular hours when required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent customer service orientation and a commitment to quality healthcare delivery.

Required Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of biomedical equipment and hospital systems.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Good understanding of preventive maintenance practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good documentation and record-keeping skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail.
